Plub, Paraguay’s First Digital Supermarket, Boosts Order Fulfillment with Modula VLMs

Plub Case Study Summary

Plub is the first 100% digital supermarket in Paraguay, founded in 2020 during the pandemic with a mission to revolutionize grocery shopping through technology. The company operates exclusively through its app, offering a seamless and intuitive shopping experience. To support this model, Plub integrated three Modula Lift ML57D units (each 26 feet high with an Internal Dual Delivery Bay and LED bar) to optimize warehouse space and speed up order fulfillment. The Modula systems now handle 50% of the total warehouse operations in just 645 square feet, ensuring fast deliveries, accuracy, and an efficient order preparation process.

The Challenge

As a digital-first supermarket, Plub needed a warehouse solution that could support high throughput, fast picking times, and compact storage. From the very beginning, the challenge was clear: create a streamlined operation capable of delivering on Plub’s promise: fast delivery, convenience, and reliability.

Traditional shelving systems were not a viable option for a model that needed to scale rapidly while maintaining strict standards of service. The team at Plub needed a compact, scalable, and technology-driven alternative that could serve as the backbone of their order preparation process.

The Solution

Plub adopted three Modula Lift ML57D vertical storage systems early in their planning phase. Each unit stands 26 feet tall and features an Internal Dual Delivery Bay for faster picking, along with LED bar systems that guide operators to the correct items and quantities.

Thanks to this configuration, Plub was able to concentrate the equivalent of 1,615 square feet of traditional warehouse storage into just 215 square feet. Overall, they now manage 50% of their total inventory in just 645 square feet. This compact and efficient setup significantly reduced picking times, enabling faster deliveries and greater accuracy.

The Modula system became a foundational element in Plub’s warehouse layout. All operator workflows and picking sequences were designed around the Modula units to ensure optimal speed and precision. This integrated setup allows Plub to maintain high service levels while growing its operation sustainably.
