Malagoli Optimizes Metalworking Operations with Modula Pallet System
Case Study Summary
Malagoli Aldebrando, a metalworking company based in Italy, specializes in laser cutting, bending, welding, and machining for various industries, including agriculture, automotive, furniture, and naval sectors. In 2023, the company added a Modula Pallet system to store palletized items, alongside two existing Modula Lift units that store boxes, lightweight bulk materials, and finished products ready for delivery. This integration has significantly enhanced their storage capabilities and and improved workspace safety and operational efficiency.
The Challenge
Malagoli Aldebrando faced challenges with inefficient storage and workspace management. Metal sheets, boxes, and finished products took up significant floor space, leading to cluttered work areas and negatively impacting productivity. The company needed a solution that would allow them to better organize their materials, optimize space, and ensure safe, ergonomic handling of items during loading and unloading processes.
The Solution
To address these challenges, Malagoli Aldebrando installed a Modula Pallet system alongside their two Modula Lift units. The Modula Pallet system efficiently stores Euro pallets loaded with equipment, components, and tools, while the Modula Lift units handle boxes, bulk materials, and finished products. The centralized storage has streamlined their operations, allowing the company to efficiently manage raw materials, semi-finished goods, and finished products in one location.
Key features of the Modula Pallet system include:
- Dynamic Height Management: The system dynamically reallocates trays to optimize the use of available vertical space, maximizing storage capacity.
- Efficient Storage of Pallets: Currently, the Modula Pallet manages approximately 50 pallets within 17 trays, saving over 60 square meters of floor space.
- Improved Safety and Ergonomics: Operators can now load and unload pallets with pallet trucks, significantly enhancing workplace safety by eliminating the need to lift heavy items to high levels.
The integration of the Modula Pallet has also allowed Malagoli Aldebrando to make full use of the available storage height, further optimizing efficiency. The combination of Modula Lift units and Modula Pallet has ensured smooth picking processes, reduced clutter, and facilitated the repurposing of production space for new equipment.
The installation process was efficient, thanks to clear instructions provided to the technicians and installers, allowing for a seamless setup. The Modula Lift units were installed within four to five working days, while the more complex Modula Pallet system required approximately two weeks. This well-planned approach minimized production disruptions and ensured a seamless transition.
“The installation of the Modula Pallet has transformed our operations, allowing us to centralize our materials and streamline our production flow.”
