Elektramat Streamlines its E-Commerce Electronic with Modula
The e-Commerce Challenge for Electronic Components Distributors
E-commerce does not just mean selling your products online — it involves extensive strategy and planning.
The global e-commerce electronics market is anticipated to grow at an annual rate of above 10.9% from 2022 to 2030, and reach a market value of around 861 billion USD by 2030.
The growth of e-commerce and online sales has made it easier to buy electrical materials and products directly from the manufacturer. However, the electronic components industry is highly competitive, and as a result, there is very little profit margin.
Operators in this sector now need to offer omnichannel sales and delivery options. This can be a serious operational challenge for both small and large companies. An e-commerce-oriented model forces significant changes in the current delivery model.
So, what is the secret of companies successfully expanding their market to the e-commerce Electronic Components domain? Automation.
Modula Automated Storage Solutions Streamline an Electronic Components Distributor’s e-Commerce Sales
This is how Elektramat, a Dutch company specializing in electrical materials such as cables, switchboards, photovoltaic distributors, and lighting, created a successful e-commerce store.
Elektramat was already active for some time as a wholesaler of electrical components for professionals and individuals. In addition to this, the brand has also offered products online with delivery throughout Europe for the past several years.
The company is a fitting example of how automation is truly the key to the success of a business. The logistics center is organized with several conveyors that transport the goods, and 14 Modula Lifts that contain all the electronic component inventory.
Each Modula automated storage system is equipped with a laser pointer and alphanumeric LED bars, which enables pickers to choose the exact item needed. A dual-delivery tray ensures faster picking times between selected items. With picking errors extremely reduced in a faster timeframe, the goods continue through the conveyor line where they are correctly labeled and boxed up for shipment. This efficiently streamlined automation process allows Elektramat to keep up with high order demand while meeting customer delivery times and expectations.
